Hinge-back Tortoise

The Hinge-back tortoise are very unique in the fact that they can close their shell 'completely' with the hinge at the end of their shell that can seal and tuck away the end of it! They come from hot humid areas where they are mainly omnivorous, feeding on insects, fallen fruit and veggies. They enjoy large areas to roam, a variety of hides and prefer shade although heat is very much required. In captivity these tortoises enjoy weekly soakings as well as misting.
